1. What This Is

Diaspora is an invite-only platform for building and keeping track of real relationships — connections, groups, referrals, and the tools to actually maintain them instead of losing them to a mental Rolodex. It's not a public social network. Access is by invite only, and we intend to keep it that way.

2. Eligibility

You must be invited by an existing member to join. We can revoke access, close accounts, or decline invites at our discretion — this is a curated network, not an open platform.

3. Your Content Is Yours

Anything you upload, write, or submit — profile info, bios, status updates, contacts in your private rolodex, mission statements, referral notes — belongs to you. We don't claim ownership of it. You can export, edit, or delete it at any time, subject to the technical limits described in our Privacy Policy.

We do need a basic license to use what you submit in order to run the product — to store it, display it back to you and the people you choose to share it with, and to power the features described below. That license ends when you delete the content or close your account.

4. What We Do With It

We use software, including AI tools, to power recommendations, reminders, and matching — for example, suggesting people you might want to reconnect with, flagging similar groups, or helping surface introductions. These tools work for you, using your own data and content, within the platform. They don't sell your information or hand it to advertisers, because there are no ads and no advertisers here.

5. Your Account, Your Responsibility

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for anything that happens under your account. Use a real password, don't share your login, and tell us if you think your account's been compromised.

6. No Guarantees

We built this carefully and we'll keep improving it, but we don't promise the platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or perfectly secure. Software breaks sometimes. We do our best to prevent data breaches and fix issues quickly, but we can't promise one will never happen.

Diaspora is provided "as is." To the extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties of any kind, express or implied.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Diaspora and its operators aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including data loss, missed opportunities, or damages from a security incident, beyond what's required by applicable law.

8. Ending Your Account

You can leave anytime — request account deletion and we'll remove your data per our Privacy Policy's retention terms. We can also suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, misuse the invite system, or misrepresent who they are.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. We'll notify members of material changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
