Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 1, 2026

1. What We Collect

  • Profile info you give us: name, role, company, location, industries, bio, mission statement, current focus.
  • Relationship data: your connections, your private rolodex (contacts you add manually or import via CSV), intros and referrals you make.
  • Usage data: basic activity needed to run the product (logins, actions taken, timestamps).

We don't collect more than we need to run the features you're using.

2. Why We Collect It

To run the platform: build your profile, power discovery and matching, generate recommendations and reminders, and let you manage your own network. Nothing here is sold or shared with advertisers — there are none.

3. Who Can See What

Diaspora is built around one core rule: the things you'd consider private stay private, by default and by design, not just by promise.

  • Your private rolodex (personal contacts, notes, priority tags) is visible only to you. Full stop. Never shown in discovery, search, or to anyone else on the platform.
  • Your bio feeds our recommendation and matching tools but is not shown to other members verbatim.
  • Your relationship score (a count of relationships cultivated) can be shown publicly if you choose — but who those relationships are with is never exposed, regardless of that setting.
  • Status updates can be posted privately (just you), to the whole community, or to specific people you pick — your choice, every time.
  • Anything else public-facing on your profile (name, role, company, industries) is visible to other members of the network, not the general public — this isn't a public-internet platform.

4. How AI Is Used

We use AI tools to help power recommendations — like suggesting industries based on your bio, flagging similar mission-driven groups, or surfacing people worth reconnecting with. These tools process your data to serve you; they don't publish your raw private content elsewhere, and they don't train on your data for purposes outside the product without telling you first.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete individual pieces of content (rolodex contacts, status updates, etc.) at any time. If you close your account, we'll delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required to retain it for legal reasons.

6. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data — encryption, access controls, and ongoing security review. But we're straight with you: no platform can guarantee it will never be breached. We work to prevent it and will respond quickly and transparently if something goes wrong. Keeping your own account secure (strong password, not sharing credentials) is part of that too.

7. Your Rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time through your account settings, or by contacting us directly.

8. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll let members know before it takes effect.
